Oh hell...

So, rather than sending out mass e-mails to my friends and family, I decided to start up a blog about my Italian adventure. I'm kind of new to this, so be patient...

Anyhow, I'm heading to Italy (yay!). In 4 days (oh crap!). By myself (double crap!). I've never been, well, anywhere of note, with relatively few exceptions. I mean, I've hit some of the high points in the good ol' USA - Los Angeles, New York, Moab, Branson - but, other than those, my world travel experiences have been pretty limited. I've traveled to Canada and Mexico, but seriously, those don't really count as having traveled outside the states.

I bought my ticket on a whim last September. The price was right, I was totally fed up with my job, and I've been wanting to go for a while. I've spent the last 8 months planning my trip and trying to learn a little Italian. This gal from the Northwest via the Midwest does not speak Italian well, I should add. But, regardless, I'm on a plane in less than 82 hours heading to the land of pasta, vino, and gelato. I'm excited beyond belief!

This blog should help me keep in touch with the afore-mentioned friends and family. Plus, maybe it'll make me be a whole lot better about keeping a trip journal. Happy reading!
